Women of the ELCA
Women of Christ The Servant Lutheran Church,
At Christ The Servant Lutheran Church, we are in the process of the revitalization of our Women of the ELCA, the official women’s auxiliary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which will involve the reintroduction of Circles as well as other ways to practice our discipleship.

Circles are small groups who meet approximately one hour a month. One of the chief benefits of Circles is to make friends. We see each other at church on Sunday, but it is difficult to meet everyone and make friends. Many of us have been members for years and still know very few people or are brand new

members and are looking for ways to serve and make friends at the same time. Many lasting friendships can be formed from our contacts with the women we meet in our Circles.
The Circles will not be business meetings, but devotional and educational times of fellowship and, of course, refreshments. Circles meet either in members’ homes or at church. Each Circle has a Leader, chosen from the group. Programs will be chosen and presented by you, the women. We can use many different types of programs—Bible study, current events, financial planning, computer classes, leadership training, parenting, playgroups, quilting, scrapbooking, community service, and more. The point is, the future of your Circle is up to you. You give us your suggestions on the information card, and the Board helps you organize your group. All childcare issues will gladly be accommodated.
Business will be conducted at monthly Board meetings. The Board will be made up of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. All women involved in Women of the ELCA at Christ The Servant Lutheran Church will also have general meetings throughout the year. The Board will keep contact with the Circles by publishing minutes or gladly having a representative from each Circle attend Board meetings.
To learn more about Women of the ELCA, you can also visit their web site.
Please fill out the information card and return it to us to let us know what day of the week and what time of day would fit in your busy schedule for you to be a part of our newly reorganized Women of the ELCA. The goal of Women of the ELCA is to have contact with every woman at Christ The Servant Lutheran Church, whether it is via an information card or a personal phone call. If you find that Circles do not fit into your schedule at this time, please let us know on your card, and we will not “keep after” you. But, please know that you are always welcome to become involved at any time. Please drop your card in the box outside of Pastor’s office labeled Women of the ELCA or e-mail it to the church office. Please title the e-mail Women of the ELCA.
There will be a Women of the ELCA Welcome Luncheon at the church on Sunday, April 29, at 12:30 p.m. Please come and meet your fellow women of the church. It is our prayer that you will include a Women of the ELCA Circle in your busy life. You will receive so much in return.
Yours in Christ’s service,
Amber, Lilly, Janice and Jill

“As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship to Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.”
