The Quilters
Christ The Servant Lutheran Church has a very active quilting group, which meets four days each month from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Since the quilting program began in 1985, The Quilters have shipped over 3,000 quilts to Lutheran World Relief. “Our quilts are nothing fancy, they are simple quilts, but so valuable to the people who receive them. These quilts are durable so that those receiving them have a bed, a way to carry their belongings, a windbreak to hang up, floor covering, etc.”The Quilters also prepare big red stockings for local hospital nurseries to send home with new babies at Christmas time, and they donate quilts to the clients of Denton County Friends of the Family. Quilts are shipped to Lutheran World Relief each April.
The Quilters stay very busy and work their machines very hard. Some of the ladies also work at home on the quilts, putting in many hours tying quilts, getting pieces ready to sew together, purchasing supplies, and seeing that the machines are properly maintained. Fabric donations, including sheets for backing, are warmly welcomed. Contact the CTS Office for more information.
